Sizes of Long RNA Molecules Are Determined by the Branching …
Here we examine the sizes (hydrodynamic radii, Rh) of a wide range of biologically relevant long RNA molecules at low nanomolar concentration using fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS). The sizes compare well with those predicted by two ensemble averaging methods that take into account the sequence-dependent effective branching of long RNAs.
» Which is bigger, mRNA or the protein it codes for?
Figure 1: The relative sizes of a globular protein and the mRNA that codes for it. The myoglobin protein is drawn to scale next to the mRNA transcript that leads to it. The coding sequence of an mRNA alone is about an order of magnitude heavier by mass than the protein.
7 Types of RNA with Structure and Functions - Microbe Notes
Aug 14, 2022 · Types of RNA are messenger RNA (mRNA), ribosomal RNA (rRNA), transfer RNA (tRNA), snRNA, snoRNA, lncRNA and catalytic RNA (ribozymes).
Predicting the sizes of large RNA molecules - PMC
We present a theory of the dependence on sequence of the three-dimensional size of large single-stranded (ss) RNA molecules. The work is motivated by the fact that the genomes of many viruses are large ssRNA molecules—often several thousand nucleotides long—and that these RNAs are spontaneously packaged into small rigid protein shells.
Size, shape, and flexibility of RNA structures - PubMed
Nov 21, 2006 · Determination of sizes and flexibilities of RNA molecules is important in understanding the nature of packing in folded structures and in elucidating interactions between RNA and DNA or proteins.
Average yield of total RNA from various sources# # Please consider that the yield of RNA may vary depending on species, developmental stage, growth conditions and treatment of the starting material.
ery little is known about the native size and conformation of large (10 3 –10 4 nt) single-stranded (ss) RNA molecules, a category that includes the genomes of ssRNA viruses.
