Which airfoil to use - RC Groups
Mar 14, 2014 · The book "Theory of wing Sections" ($16) is a reprint of design theory of airfoils, for subsonic speeds. The appendices in this book has hundreds of airfoils, with cross sections and basic information (lift, drag, and pitching moments). For basic flight, the NACA 2415 (p. 481 in the appendix) is a general purpose wing that works well at RC sizes.

Aerobatic Airfoils? - RC Groups
Jul 27, 2005 · Symmetrical (more correctly zero mean camber) airfoils are normal for aerobatics planes and are often mounted at 0 degrees Incidence. I suspect you're confusing incidence and angle of attack (AoA). They're not the same thing. Of course zero mean camber foils don't fly at zero AoA because they have no lift at at that AoA.
Choosing a Sailplane Airfoil - RC Groups
May 26, 2007 · Any of the airfoils can be thinned out and the spars tapered. One of the calculators that I found by searching through the groups here had calculations based on spar construction. The result of the calculation was the force at the center of the wing based on the G force to be handled, the weight, wing span, spar size, and where it was an I beam ...
Best glider airfoils - RC Groups
Oct 11, 2018 · Good all around airfoils are just that, not great at anything, not bad at anything. High lift also means high G tolerance and pull hard wings that can make a plane turn on a dime. These are often seen on sport planes that are capable of silly hard aerobatics and sport aerobatics (think 3D types) or when they high lift wing has a flat bottom ...

Joe Wurts Airfoils - RC Groups
Dec 14, 2004 · Nathan, I've a quick request for you. In a couple of the RCGroups forums in the slope and DS, there are some posts mentioning that all my airfoils are secret. Can you send a short reply stating the contrary? I've not posted my airfoils on a website (I don't have one), but I've fwd'ed coordinates on to whoever requests them. Thanks in advance. Joe
PW airfoils - RC Groups
Jun 29, 2005 · The airfoils were originally designed for 20% flap cord, but in reality there was not a big differece for flap cords between 20 and 30%. The hinge should be on the underside! The Best Stable airfoil for Tailless airplanes. The final ... - RC Groups
Jul 10, 2021 · More than 40 airfoils were tested to choose the best stable airfoil. The main conclusions are: 1. An airfoil is stable if with increase of AoA the CP point moves from the nose to the tail, and the Moment, measured at 1/4 c, is usually increasing with increase of AoA. 2.
