I've seen R1b in Syrians and also they appear on the R1b printout from Family Tree. I lived in a neighborhood of Jews from Aleppo. So if you compare their Y chromo with Jews from Poland, you'll see plenty of R1b and R1a1 in both. Hope this helps. The R1b/R1b1 and R1a/R1a1 Y Chromosomes are found all over the Middle East and also all over Europe.

British R1b at 75% (close to 90% in Ireland) compares only to ca. 15% amongst Sephardic Jews. [ R1b1b2 (West European type of R1b) has recently been found in the Egyptian Mummies (family of Tutankhamen) lending substance to the suggestion that it originated in the Middle East and moved westward only recently in historical terms.

Are the British and Scandinavians Semites or European?
R1b however is considered to have begun in Turkey or Mesopotamia. We find that tye distribution of most Ychromosome (male-associated) DNA haplotypes do not fit any Indo-European scenario. The two haplotypes (R1a and R1b) that it may be somehow possible to associate with a good portion of the Indo-Europeans are found to also belong to other ...

Isolated (?) cases of R1b have also been reported from Egypt. The Hyksos (Shepherd Kings according to Josephus and according to Brit-Am at least in part Hebrews) from the region of Israel conquered Egypt and other parts of Africa and it has been suggested that maybe they gave rise to the presence of R1b in the Cameroons(?).
