Queen are a British rock band formed in 1970. They are among the most commercially successful bands in history. They have sold over 300 million albums worldwide.

Queen formed in 1970 and in 1973 signed their first recording contract for EMI. That year they released their first album, Queen. The same year saw their first major UK tour, and in 1974 they released Queen II as well as making their first UK headlining tour.

Queen is a British rock band founded in 1970 by its singer, Freddie Mercury, Brian May on guitar, Roger Taylor on drums and John Deacon on bass. Despite the absence of some of its members, the band was active until 2009.

The famous Queen Crest logo seen on the back of the first album was designed by Freddie around this time, and became a familiar sight on most of the band's product. Queen was released on July 13th 1973 in the UK and attained Gold sales status.
