Dec 22, 2011 · Quad is THE most commonly used caulk for window and siding installation by far, and for good reason. It is a very good product. It puts to shame anything made by DAP... Solar seal, Vulkem, and silcone are decent choices as well depending on application, but Quad is a very versatile, high-end caulk.

Jul 8, 2017 · Clear latex caulk can revert back to milky when it gets wet but will go back clear when it dries. I rarely paint over clear caulk because of the time factor, too soon and the paint is apt to crawl a little. Caulking can withstand a little rain shortly after being applied, it's the hard down pours that will negatively affect fresh caulk.

Dec 25, 2019 · Working on outdoor structures, you should assume that caulk doesn't keep anything dry from constant weather. About the caulk, I guess anything is possible. It is possible that somebody kept the caulk too long and returned it for refund. But I don't know if osi quad has a shelf life, I've kept it as long as 1.5 yrs and found it good still.

Oct 5, 2015 · Just replaced 18 windows in my house with Seaway vinyl replacements. I used colored OSI Quad caulk as it seems highly recommended. I've noticed that on some windows (typically ones which get sun), the caulk looks excellent when I do it, but over the course of a couple days it develops large bubbles in spots that look terrible.

Dec 1, 2020 · My house was re-sided in Hardi plank siding. The caulk used (from Hardi) has failed everywhere. What do people recommend for exterior caulk that comes in beige? I prefer non-water soluble but am open to suggestions. Thanks.

Oct 15, 2019 · Quad is an excellent line and it does "tool" to some extent, but it will depend on how well you apply it. You can't "gob" it on and expect it to tool down. In addition, you are doing EXTERIOR trim, I assume, as Quad is not an interior sealant. It off gasses too much and is petroleum based rather than latex.

I tried a tool free bead and noticed when you have to reapply another lever stroke the dripless gun will cause an interruption in the caulk application. I am considering buying a non dripless gun again. Any tips for tool free caulking? The caulk I pan to use is OSI Quad Max for Hardie siding.
