The Pokémon Gear (Japanese: ポケモンギア Pokémon Gear), mostly known as Pokégear (Japanese: ポケギア Pokégear), is an electronic device found in Johto. It looks like an advanced cell phone with the Silph Co. logo on it, although some trainers (such as Ethan or Kris) may also wear it on a wrist-mounted strap or a lanyard.

In Pokémon the Series, several characters own a Pokégear, particularly in settings of the Johto region. Pokégears are featured in the colors white, pink, black, and blue, more than in even Pokémon HeartGold Version and Pokémon SoulSilver Version.

These characters include trainers dotted around Johto as well as vital characters in the story such as your Mom or Professor Elm. With the phone, you can both call-up and receive calls from these characters. They will give you vital information when you call or they call you and some will allow you to call for rematches or to obtain items.

The PokeGear is an interesting new gadget introduced in the second generation. Like a modern day smartphone, its many functions serve to streamline old features and provide easy access to new ones. As well, it can upgraded to have new applications installed.

The map card works exactly as before and provides a map of Johto. This map is fully interactive and will allow you to zoom in to the various areas.
