Actually no. Rumors of pikablu sprung even before yellow came out. I never even had the concept of a new generation on pokemon coming out. There were an abundant amount of pokemon cheat sites that claimed you could get it in r/b. And when yellow came out a lot of speculation about it finally making an appearance. The first time we saw marril (sp?) We considered it proof, little knowing it was its own 'mon. The pikablu rumor was even more popular than the "move the truck to get mew" rumor.
