Based on the responses of Pardhan subjects to questionnaires and interviews, it appears that Pardhan is not a separate language at present, although the Pardhan people remain a distinct community. Pardhan subjects who live among Gonds reported speaking the local Gondi dialect as their mother tongue.

The Pardhan people are wheat farmers in the broad Narmada River valley. They are musicians to the neighboring Gond people, who are also wheat farmers. A Pardhan man who follows the tradition of mangteri plays the bana, a three-string fiddle, and after the harvest season each year travels to perform epic songs for his Gond patron families.

Pardhan is an endangered indigenous language of India. It belongs to the Dravidian language family. Direct evidence is lacking, but the language is thought to be used as a first language by a decreasing number of young people. It is not known to be taught in schools.
