The Axes class represents one (sub-)plot in a figure. It contains the plotted data, axis ticks, labels, title, legend, etc. Its methods are the main interface for manipulating the plot. An Axes object encapsulates all the elements of an individual (sub-)plot in a figure. The view limits as Bbox in data coordinates.

May 23, 2013 · It is possible to use your own axes class. In your case you can inherit from matplotlib.axes.Axes and change the drag_pan method to always act as though the 'x' key is being pressed. However the zooming doesn't seem to be defined in that class.
