Sep 14, 2011 · We present near-infrared (NIR) linear polarimetric observations of PDS 144 gathered with the IAGPOL imaging polarimeter along with the CamIV infrared camera at the Observatório do Pico dos Dias (OPD).
We present in this paper our discovery of such an edge-on circumstellar disk around the Herbig Ae star PDS 144N (α = 15h49m15.5s, δ = −26 00′50.2”, J2000). Carballo et al. (1992) identified IRAS 15462-2551 with a previously anonymous 12th magnitude star in Scorpius.
edge-on disk around the Herbig Ae star PDS 144N, made with the Lick Observatory adaptive optics system, and subsequent observations across a broad range of wavelengths. This rich multiwavelength dataset spans 0.5-70 microns and enables detailed modeling of the physical properties of this disk.
PDS 144: The First Confirmed Herbig Ae - Herbig Ae Wide Binary
Dec 30, 2011 · Direct imagery revealed a disk occulting PDS 144 N - the first edge-on disk observed around a Herbig Ae star.

Aims: Our goal is to study the circumstellar environment associated with each component of the wide intermediate-mass pre-main sequence binary system <ASTROBJ>PDS 144</ASTROBJ> using broadband polarimetry. Methods: We present near-infrared (NIR) linear polarimetric observations of <ASTROBJ>PDS 144</ASTROBJ> gathered with the IAGPOL imaging ...

Object of the Week June 23st, 2024 – Protoplanetary disk PDS 144N
Jun 23, 2024 · One of the brightest known in visual wavelengths lies in extreme western Scorpius and goes by the designation PDS 144N. But for a full century, starting in the late 1800s, it was known as the faint star Córdoba Durchmusterung (the German word for “survey”) -25 11111 [5].
PDS 144, providing the first intermediate-mass analog of HK Tau and similar T Tauri stars. This system consists of a V 13 mag primary and a fainter companion, with the spectra of both stars showing evidence for circumstella. disks and accretion; both stars were classified as Herbig Ae by the Pico dos Dias Survey.
