Apr 8, 2020 · A P90 is a single coil. So is a Strat pickup, or a Tele pickup, or a Hi-Lo Tron, etc. Single coil is, in itself, a very generic term that doesn't refer to any one specific pickup. There are a lot of very different types of single coil pickups. I like single coils. A P90 is my favorite single coil, but I only like them in the bridge position.

Feb 21, 2007 · For some reason I've always had the idea that a P90 equipped Tele might be the perfect tone for me. So my question, what's your opinion on Tele styled vs. P90 styled pickups? Will I still be able to get a little deeper styled beefed twang from the P90 Suhr, but also get some darker "woodier" tones than typcal Tele pickups?

Jun 5, 2015 · It ended up about halfway between a P90 and a Strat tone. I wonder how close to a P90 you could get by modding a Super Distortion instead? Seeing as how it has two booster magnets on the outside of the poles, if you took the pole screws out of one coil, the magnet arrangement to the screws would be somewhat similar to a P90.
