The Bell P-59 Airacomet is a single-seat, twin jet -engine fighter aircraft that was designed and built by Bell Aircraft during World War II. It was the first jet produced in the United States.

Development of the P-59 "Airacomet", America's first jet-propelled airplane, was ordered personally by General H. H. Arnold on September 4, 1941. The project was conducted under the utmost secrecy, with Bell building the airplane and General Electric the engine.

Configuration: Mid-wing cantilever monoplane with laminar flow wing section, a 2° geometric twist, 3° dihedral, 2° incidence, and 7° leading-edge sweep-back. Structure: Comprises two main spars, an auxiliary spar, a nose beam, ribs, stringers, and transverse bulkheads, covered with a flush-riveted smooth metal skin.
