Aug 8, 2014 · Actually, the doctor needs to know what the patient's normal heart rate is in order to form a valid opinion. For a lot of people, 70 beats per minute would be ok, but for someone like me, with a normal resting pulse of 52, a pulse rate of 70 is 30% up on 'my' normal, and probably means I am unwell. I think the same logic applies to the P1NP test.

You do not have severe osteoporosis because you mentioned that you have had no fractures. Severe osteoporosis is defined as T-score below -2.5 AND the presence of one or more fragility fractures.

Feb 1, 2024 · P1NP measures the bone formation and CTX (aka BetaCrosslaps) the bone resorption. P1NP is for monitoring anabolic drug (teriparatide, Tymlos, Evenity). It is not essential, mostly a yearly DXA is enough. Either they work or not, and we don't know why.

After 3 months on Forteo, P1NP and CTx again... Without bone markers, you have the DXA (or REMS) yearly, because you are on an anabolic drug.
