Interesting, I didn't know you could look the matches (name/picture) without signing up. I deleted my OKC account a few months ago.

They're owned by Humor Rainbow, the same company that has Match.com, and when I called their offices in New York, the woman told me to email [email protected]. That didn't work, either.

Okcupid has their stupid passport option now, which means my account gets flooded by spammers from the Philippines. However, you don't know that, until you pay them to see your likes. Within like 2 seconds of my completing my profile, I had like 30 likes...

Aug 30, 2013 · OKCupid seems to be bigger in Japan than Plenty of Fish, but not as big as JapanCupid (a pay site). The quality of profiles (for women), however, seems higher than both. There are also sites that target locals exclusively, most of which are marriage-focused (as in arranged marriages). For chat apps, LINE (by Naver) is probably the most common.
