I have now changed my personal time to 'busy' instead of OOO and this appears to be a short term rectification that wil stop people bothering me in my personal time despite showing as a meeting in my calendar. I will still make a feedback request regardless.

Jan 7, 2021 · Checked the Calendar to ensure no events have been set as OOO as a status. Cleared all the cache on my laptop. Set my Outlook to Offline, and re-enabled it to force it to connect to the exchange. Re-enabled my OOO in outlook, and turn it off again see if it would trigger the change. In teams updated my status too Busy, then available.

Oct 18, 2017 · Apparently, in Outlook 2016 at least, if you don't enter any text (or clear what's there already), the auto-replies won't be sent, as a pop-up message confirms but the other stuff you mention should still work.
