NU girders are characterized by their wide bottom flange, which enhances the compressive strength in negative moment regions.

In anticipation of the adoption of NU girder sections for in-house bridge design projects, KDOT desired charts to aid in the preliminary design of these beams. An Excel spreadsheet was developed to perform the necessary LRFD design checks on the NU girder sections.
