We are looking to recruit several suitably experienced substantive Constables to be trained as Tactical Flight Officers (TFOs) with the National Police Air Service serving at NPAS Bases across England and Wales.

After an applicant is selected but before being posted, officers are temporarily attached to NPAS for a four-week Aviation Foundation Course (AFC). This is a Civil Aviation Authority requirement which involves several continuous assessment checks in order to qualify.

Provide air operation support to NPAS stakeholder police services by carrying out such activities as might be required including navigation and equipment operation, in line with NPAS policy and strategic direction to ensure an effective air support provision within a borderless environment.

The principles and basic fundamental of being a TFO are required to pass onto this next level of training which is the Operational Conversion phase with some complex systems on simulated and live policing operations.
