Feb 15, 2023 · I know this doesn't address your thermal question, but space might be an issue with the NH-D15, depending on the choice of ram/PCIe usage. Check out the Noctua NH-D15S - similar design and performance to the NH-D15 but with an asymmetrical heat sink design for better ram/PCIe compatibility (also I got it for the same price as the NH-D15).

Jul 23, 2023 · Currently the high end air cooler segment has a lot of competition. Companies like Be Quiet!, DeepCool, and Thermalright have very competitive offerings compared to Noctua That being said Noctua still has best in class long term warranty and support. Also you should keep in mind that the NH-D15 is around a decade old design.

May 30, 2022 · Max temperature is 97° C, but I set the P cores to 5.2/1 active, 5.1/4 active, 5.0/6 active and 4.9/8 active. E cores are at 4.0/2 active and 3.8/4 active. Just did a multicore run in Cinebench and got Thermal Throttling Time active for 0.1% in intel XTU. So it’s really on the edge of what a D15 is able to cool.

You’d need a big AIO to beat the D15 still. Only really good 2x120mm ones match it, few less beat it. Need 2x140mm or bigger to beat it. AIOs aren’t inherently superior to a large cooler like the D15, and still better fans will make most of the difference. Noctua’s A12x25s are still unmatched for performance

Mar 27, 2022 · Noctua also has a historical reputation of providing mounting kits for new sockets so you can keep using it down the road. On the other hand, the AIO might get gunked up, pump might fail, it could leak (unlikely but possible), etc. Edit: Worth noting that Noctua has an updated NH-D15 on its roadmap for this year. Might be worth waiting for

Nov 28, 2022 · On my d15 i have 2 of the default 150mm fans or whatever they are and a 140 on the front (three fans). it out preforms my other computer with the same cpu and a 280 (the nzxt 63x) decisively and similar airflow almost by 10c in a given workload. The d15 is no joke. I know a lot of people think noctua has some hype. I really don't.
