Nargis Dutt[3][5] (née Fatima Rashid, also known as Nirmala Dutt; 1 June 1929 – 3 May 1981) known mononyomusly as Nargis was an Indian actress and politician who worked in Hindi cinema.

After some time, her family shifted to Allahabad from West Bengal. Her mother who was a classical singer introduced Nargis to the cinema world.

She left her acting career, after marrying Sunil Dutt in 1958. She won the National Film Award for Best Actress for her last film Raat Aur Din (1967). She became the first actress to win this award.

Her husband, Sunil, Dutt, went on to win a seat in the Indian Parliament, and after his passing, their daughter, Priya, won his vacant seat. Nargis passed away due to pancreatic cancer on May 3, 1981.
