Is it common to have some burned smell for a brand new Nissan
this is normal for all cars that are brand new, such as yours; my 2010 Maxima had that burning odor for the first 1-2k miles I think, I can't remember since I'm at about 5k now but is has been several months since I've smelt it; I think it is the smell of the chemicals they put on the engine and other engine components burning themselves off as the car is broken in and used!!!
