The NSU Prima D was a single cylinder, two-stroke scooter motorcycle produced between 1956 and 1960. It could reach a top speed of 50 mph (80 km/h). Claimed horsepower was 6.03 HP (4.5 KW) @ 5200 RPM.

Scooters had a fast development and very soon NSU entered the market with two new models: Prima III 150 ccm and Prima V 175 ccm. NSU even had a scooter with a four-stroke engine borrowed from the Max ( 250 ccm ), ready for discharge on the market in the early 60’s, but the demand for scooter sales dropped, so the project was abandoned.

This 1957 NSU Prima III was purchased from the collection of well known scooter restorers Tom and Anna Giordano. NSU began producing the Innocenti Lambretta under license beginning in 1950, then introduced the Prima as their own design in 1956.
