MiG-31 on the ground with canopies open (picture source) The wing root of the MiG-31 has a small strake added while the wing of the MiG-25 is a pure trapeze with a straight leading edge.

Six Mig 31 Foxhounds, vastly superior to the Mig25 Foxbat,performed a coordinated intercept that would have subjected the SR71 to an all-angle AAM attack that even a combination of high-altitude maneuverability and ECM could not have defeated.

The SR-71 was designed as a long range reconnaissance aircraft, and had a range of 5400km which enabled it to fly long missions over enemy territory. Another consideration is size. The SR-71 was a larger plane than either the MiG-25 or MiG-31.

Apr 30, 2018 · I'm surprised no-one's mentioned the length - the MiG-15 has a much stubbier appearance than the MiG-17, because it was rather shorter (10.10m vs 11.26m) The wings of the MiG-17 are angled at 45°, rather more than the MiG-15 (helpful to identify from above), and the tailplane is has a small amount of extra rake too.

Here's a picture from Wikipedia: As you can see on the following picture, not every Mig-29 has this thing: What is this "Mirror"-like-thing supposed to do? Why can't I find it on every Mig-29?

Nov 25, 2022 · From the Russian sources here and here it is seen that Mig-25 used vacuum tubes. However these where not the usual large vacuum tubes from consumer electronics, already obsolete at that time. Mig-25 used miniature vacuum tubes specially designed for this aircraft. Sources say the electronics was anyway efficient and worked well.
