Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) are a recently discovered bone-marrow-derived cell type. They have characteristic of immature stem cells with immunomodulatory properties.

Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) are one of the most discussed biological entities in immunology. While the context and classification of this group of cells has evolved, MDSCs most commonly describe cells arising during chronic inflammation, especially late-stage cancers, and are defined by their T cell immunosuppressive functions.

MDSC consist of two large groups of cells termed granulocytic or polymorphonuclear (PMN-MDSC), which are phenotypically and morphologically similar to neutrophils; and monocytic (M-MDSC) – phenotypically and morphologically similar to monocytes.

MDSC offers a wide-range of programs that serve and improve the lives of people with Down syndrome and their families throughout the state.
