Mar 7, 2008 · Hi Jim, Mako never used Armstrong brackets on any of their bracketed boats: 221B or the 261B. Their brackets were made "inhouse". That boat you're looking at must have had the bracket added after the fact. In addition, the 221B was designed to run with a single 2-stroke, never 4-strokes and certainly not twin 4-strokes! Jul 1, 2016 · The boat is 24 years old (1992 Mako 221B) and we started smelling fuel in the console and in the bilge. Since that is obviously not a risk worth taking we bit the bullet and decided to repair the boat.

Jul 8, 2014 · Having a bigger mako I couldn't say for sure, but I agree definately dont want to underpower, otherwise one of the new inline 4 cylinder yamaha or suzuki 200HP would be ideal, think there are a couple 221b or 232 model guys here that have 4 stroke 250's on, sounds like it could be made to work.

The 221b and 232 are the same hulls. The model number changed in 95. Marine Connection Liquidators in Fort Pierce may have the name plate, however if not you can have the replicated fairly easily.
