Oct 25, 2020 · The Mad Mage can serve as an effective link for a character into Barovia. I made my Mage "Mindartis Aloro" the teacher of the PC wizard's teacher. Linking a character to the Mage is an effective way to make it feel more satisfying.

I spoke with one of my players and he agreed that without a very clear objective on a nearby floor, Mad Mage would feel like a slog. Finishing a floor just to have only gotten 1 floor of 20 closer to the end would be exhausting.

Nov 16, 2021 · A few others in the thread posted that Mad Mage is a combat romp with limited roleplay, and that is exactly the opposite of my experience. If anything, I wish I would have emphasized the roleplay more because the faction fights are the heart and soul of the dungeon.

If you don’t like the number provided for the roll, you totally have the choice to change the dice type and number of dice to fit your needs :) I just wanted to give the world something to work with so they can build off of it in their own way 👍 something to fill the void and give some direction.
