Hedvig Antoinette Isabella Eleonore Jensen (4 December 1867 – 19 July 1889), better known by her stage name Elvira Madigan, was a circus performer who performed as a slack rope dancer, artistic rider, juggler and dancer. She is best known today for her romantic relationship with the Swedish nobleman and cavalry officer Sixten Sparre.

Peterson gained fame on Los Angeles television station KHJ-TV in her stage persona as Elvira, hosting Elvira's Movie Macabre, a weekly B movie presentation.

Feb 27, 2017 · Damrau was wonderful as the pre-mad Elvira, girlish and coquettish. No one does girlish and coquettish better than Damrau. But her voice was on the thin and small side. She gave us a poor, un-Damrau-like trill. The aria “Son vergin vezzosa” is right up her alley.

Oct 12, 2016 · In 1988, Elvira made her first appearance on the big screen in Elvira, Mistress of the Dark. The film wasn’t much of a Summer hit, but did well on VHS (reaching #12 on Billboard’s video rental charts). A sequel (Elvira’s Haunted Hills) wasn’t released for another nine years.
