Jun 17, 2024 · If you are trying to install Mojave on a Mac Pro 5,1 (early-2009 cross flashed with MP5,1 firmware, mid-2010 and mid-2012), you have first to upgrade your BootROM to version MP51.0089.B00 and to High Sierra 10.13.6, then you can install a Metal capable GPU* that works with High Sierra and finally you can upgrade your firmware and install Mojave.

My normal workstations are entirely passively cooled and silence is bliss, but I do still use my cMPs when I need machines with a bit more power or more cores for testing virtual environments ...

Jan 17, 2014 · I found this in the release notes for OCLP 2.0.1 - "Single CPU limitation on 2008 Mac Pro (MacPro3,1) and 2008 Xserve (Xserve2,1). Booting with more than 4 cores breaks Sequoia, OpenCore Legacy Patcher will automatically disable additional cores. When running an older OS, you can disable this limitation in Settings."

Oct 27, 2010 · I abandoned Sonoma due to the instability caused by outdated CPU in Mac Pro 5,1. Moved to Montery and it's stable and trouble free. Replaced RX 580 with RX 6600 from MacVidCard EU. Despite their site advertising the card to support 8k @ 60Hz, I'm only able to get 6k at 30Hz, or 5k @ 60Hz on my Dell 6k monitor over DP, trying many different cables.

Jul 8, 2021 · Have a Mac Pro 5,1, It is running macOS Sonoma 14.1.1 and it works perfect and installs like any operating system With Dartania OpenCore 1.2.1, Using a Nvidia GTX 780Ti or a GT 730 Video card, Both work every time with everything, Tried a Nvidia Quadro K5000, It works but the other two work way better with no problems at all, Also has a Sonnet ...
OpenCore - Sequoia on MacPro 5,1 - Graphic card problem
Oct 25, 2024 · Hello, I’m posting on this forum because I can’t solve my problem. I have a Mac Pro (early 2009) that I upgraded to 5,1. I installed Sequoia 15.0.1 using OCLP 2.0.2. Since I have a Radeon RX 580, I had to put back my original Radeon HD 4870 for the installation. I performed a clean installation on a formatted disk, not an upgrade.

Apr 10, 2011 · In 2015 I purchased an HGST He8 drive, which I preferred on various grounds (reliability, efficiency) to the other 8TB options for an internal data drive in an Early 2009 Mac Pro (4,1). I added a pair of cheaper Seagate Archive 8 TB drives as external cloning drives for backup, one kept off site.
