The MC-60A gets it's power for the mic amp from the pin out on a Kenwood 8 pin radio. So if it's already getting power from the rig, and you put batteries in it TOO....see the problem? You overdrive the mic amp, and it causes a "feedback" that resembles RF.

Selling this vintage Kenwood MC-60A dynamic microphone, used in the days mostly for radio and broadcast applications. Really fitted for voice, works really great on other sources such as snare drums and guitar amps! Mic impedance may be set to either 500 or 50K Ohms.

While it is not my all-time favorite microphone, I can find no fault in the MC-60A. I ran one for years on my old (no longer owned) T-599, and now am in the market for another 2, for my current Kenwoods. It is a solid, good sounding, top performance microphone, that is, in my opinion, the best Kenwood has made, so far.
