Aug 10, 2017 · The M6 was the second-fastest BMW ever built at 158 mph — only the equally rare high-performance M1 coupe boasted a higher maximum speed. Although the factory did not release official production numbers, it is believed that 1,632 examples of the E24-series M6 were shipped to the U.S. market from 1987 to 1989.

All models used petrol straight-six engines, with the majority (aside from the M635CSi/M6 model) using a version of the BMW M30 engine family. The E24 shared many parts with the E12 5 series, and in 1982 was updated with parts from the newly released E28 5 series.

Jun 28, 2009 · The M6 is, IMHO, one of BMW's best and most timeless designs. I have always loved the way these cars look and have owned 6 of them. The M6 is a fantastic interstate cruiser and eats up the miles effortlessly.

The first BMW M5 was produced during the E28 generation. It was powered by the M88/3 and S38 straight-six engines. The E24 6 Series coupés were built on the E28 platform from 1982 to 1989. The E28 was replaced by the E34 5 Series in 1988.

The second generation of BMW 5 Series, known as the E28, was introduced for the 1982 model year. The E28 was available with inline four or inline six engines, and was the first BMW car to be offered with a diesel engine.

Dec 13, 2007 · The e28 is a great driving car particularly an M but takes a BMW lover to appreciate the style. Value wise it is clear the 6ers carry a premium. Low mileage M6 examples will command $25k up where a similar M5 (US spec) would be lucky to hit $15k.
