This round has all of the features of an ideal armor-piercing shot, and is effective against all types of armor plate. The model number marked on the projectile may be either M51, M51B1 or M51B2; rounds so marked are identical in functioning, the B1 or B2 designations signifying only that the projectiles are manufacturing alternatives of the M51.

May 2, 2007 · The M51B1 APC-BCT (Armor Piercing Capped-Ballistic Cap Tracer) was a 1.9 lb hardened tungsten projectile with a pointed aluminum or soft steel ballistic cap added that had a muzzle velocity of 2,900 fps and the ability to penetrate 53mm of armor at 1000 yards.

Introduced in 1940, it became the standard anti-tank gun of the U.S. infantry with its size enabling it to be pulled by a jeep.

In addition, it has been filled with an epoxy resin making it permanently inert which means it can now only ever be used as a 60+ year old curio or as a collectable relic.

Target practice shot is for use in target practice and general field practice. The A1 modification does not have a windshield. The projectile is the same as that for the APC, M51, Service Round except that the body and cap of the shot are made in one piece of steel that is not heat treated.

Mar 24, 2025 · This is a nice original WW2 unfired 37mm AP projectile. Rotating band is marked "LOT -EB- 2-2-1943- 37MM M51B1". This is a solid steel projectile 4 ½" tall that is missing its ballistic nose cone. This has a ¾" wide rotating band (never fired) and has a ½" dia. X ¾" deep hole in the base for a tracer compound ( the hole is empty).
