The Steyr ADGZ was an Austrian heavy armored car used during World War II. It was originally designed for the Austrian Army (designated as the "M35 Mittlerer Panzerwagen") in 1934, and delivered in 1935–1937.

In "ADGZ", AD stands for "Austro-Daimler", the official designation was "M35 Mittlere Panzerwagen". The ADGZ was a massive, twelve-wheeled armored car, the two external axles with their independent leaf spring suspension, and the central twin axle, with double wheels (eight in all), mated on a common suspension.

Der Straßenpanzerwagen ADGZ war ursprünglich eine Panzerspähwagen-Entwicklung der Austro-Daimler-Puchwerke AG in Wiener-Neustadt. Die Steyr-Werke fusionierten 1934 mit diesen zu Steyr Daimler Puch und übernahm damit das Entwicklungsprojekt.

Design work on a new indigenous armoured vehicle for the Austrian Armed Forces began in 1934 and resulted in the "M35 Medium Armoured Vehicle" - also known as "ADGZ". The car was produced by Steyr from 1935 to the end of 1941, with a total of 52 built.

The Panzerwagen ADGZ was an original Austrian Army M35 armored car that was impressed into German Army service in 1939 with police detachments during Poland ’s occupation. In 1941, Steyr received a request from the Reichsführer -SS to complete a further 25 new ADGZ vehicles for the SS military.
