You cannot drop weight from just one area of your body. You cannot lose belly fat without losing weight. Sounds like your muscles aren't big enough to have a "healthy bmi" with low bf% so... Lift heavy, to get bigger more defined muscles and keep doing what your doing to burn the calories. You might even gain weight from the lifting.

Then I had kids (including twins). Even though I had a normal BMI the doctor advised me to lose a few kilos due to the excess weight around my middle. Now I'm at a low very low BMI but tummy measurement hasn't shifted. I guess I'm really just venting. I want to think I'm not alone.

Hi, I am looking for advice for my dad who is almost 60, has a low BMI (possibly underweight) and very high cholesterol. He finally went for a check up a few months ago and has very high cholesterol, was put on 40mg statins for 3 months. Statins lowered his cholesterol but he is now pre diabetic (with symptoms).

MFP shows a BMI of 15.6 as underweight. You say you have gone to other websites. Do any of them say that 15.6 is in a healthy range? I did a quick google of BMI indexes and I could not find any that said 15.6 was a healthy BMI. All I saw listed it as underweight. I guess if you wanted to settle it once and for all - ask your doctor what he thinks.

With a low BMI and stil dissatified with your body composition dieting to lose more weight might not be the solution but training to add some muscle while maintaining weight might well be. Cardio is not the holy grail for fat loss.
