In February 1990, Nowell purchased a Dalmatian puppy from an old man for $500, and named him "Louie" after his grandfather. [4] Also referred to as "Lou Dog", he became a mascot for the band Sublime. Lou Dog was often allowed to wander the stage during concert performances.

One of the most vivid images of Sublime 's iconography is Bradley Nowell' s famous Dalmatian, Lou Dog. Named after Nowell's grandfather, Louie Nowell, the mythology of Lou Dog was epic.

He was the four-legged member of the American band Sublime and was named Lou Dog or Louie Dog. A Dalmatian, he belonged to the band's lead singer Brad Nowell. He was rescued by Nowell as a puppy and was named in honor of Nowel's grandfather, Louie Nowell.

Lou Dog, Nowell's dalmatian, was the mascot of the band. Nowell died of a heroin overdose in 1996, resulting in the band's breakup. In 1997, songs such as "What I Got", "Santeria", "Wrong Way", "Doin' Time", and "April 29, 1992 (Miami)" were released to U.S. radio. [2]
