Primary logo. Inspired by famed type designer Frederic Goudy’s Californian typeface — which was created more than 85 years ago for the University of California Press — and its sibling font, Deepdene, our logo is designed to be clear, confident and curious.

There are three CA.gov logo versions. The logos are designed to fit into a variety of spaces and containers on a website. Each logo has a specific usage designation. There are two options for headers and banners, and a separate logo for favicons. Choose the header logo that creates the greatest visual balance on your website.

The iconic Cal Script remains the face of California Athletics and continues as the primary logo. The return of Block C and the profile Golden Bear in combination creates a new, but classic, secondary mascot logo.

Our logo is simply "Cal.com" in the Cal Sans font. We have a dark and light variant, and although the dark is considered our default, you can freely use both as much as you'd like. As many designers will tell you, when using a logo, always make the logo smaller.

Why not use the Cal logo or the Big C as the social media icon? UC Berkeley is the primary identity of the university. Using “Cal” or “C,” which is the identity for athletics, as a shorthand for “UC Berkeley” would be confusing and further dilute the university’s brand and reputation.
