Why was it such a huge deal that AlphaGo beat Lee Sedol? : …
Oct 10, 2023 · Lee Sedol's purpose in life was to push the limits of Go, to take this ancient game further than anyone, to create new and beautiful strategies and share that with the rest of the world. It was his art. But that purpose and art now belongs to AlphaGo. AlphaGo has surpassed Lee Sedol's creativity in Go.
AlphaGo lost the 4th game: AlphaGo 3-1 Lee Sedol
Lee Sedol is actually the (much) better player, and only lost due to a combination of the element of surprise and other psychological factors. If we give Sedol (and other top humans) some time to observe more AlphaGo games like they can do with each other's games (and AlphaGo did with theirs), then maybe AlphaGo would lose everything.

Mar 24, 2018 · Then for white I played where Lee Sedol played in the game. It wasn’t until move 83 that there was a divergence. In the actual match AG played at N8 as black on move 83, whereas giving Leela Zero two million playouts and plenty of …
Interview after Final AlphaGo Vs Lee SeDol match. : r/baduk - Reddit
Mar 15, 2016 · This is another huge reason that I believe they made the right decision in choosing to challenge Lee Sedol instead of the current #1 Ke Jie, who's 18 years old. Lee's diplomacy, poise, and from what I can tell through the translations, eloquence, in a live press conference in front of the world was top notch.
Lee Sedol vs. AlphaGo: 4th game - Thinking Time in minutes [OC]
Since AlphaGo is so consistent about its time usage, Lee Sedol could count on having at least 1 minute of thinking time on AlphaGo's turn. Once Lee Sedol was in overtime, he had only 1 minute to make a move himself, so AlphaGo taking 1-2 minute turns was at least doubling the time that Lee Sedol had to think.
[Question] How good is Lee Sedol and how good is Alpha Go?
Aug 8, 2021 · The version of alphago that played Lee Sedol was probably about even with the highest level a human has ever achieved. It was demonstrably better than Lee Sedol, but of note Ke Jie also had beaten Lee Sedol 8 out of 10 times so his heads up record was similar. The alphago master version that came out a couple of months later was superhuman.
Google's recent interview with the legendary Lee Sedol 8 years
Mar 21, 2024 · Even though he has retired, Lee Sedol is still, and will always be a legend in Go. He was the first and the only person in history to have ever beaten AlphaGo. In this interview held 8 years after AlphaGo appeared, he talks about the …
Question about AlphaGo's "Move 37" vs. Lee Sedol : r/baduk
Jan 16, 2018 · Just from Lee Sedol's reaction alone, and the fact that Redmond almost misplaced the stone during commentary, is testament to how surprising it was. I also think it's worthwhile to frame it like this: It's less about the originality of 5th line shoulder hit specifically, but more about AG proving itself as a creative entity in general.
Why was move 37 in Alphago vs Lee Sedol Game 2 considered a
Sep 27, 2020 · Like battleporridge said, move 37 is praised because it's a good move that few humans would've thought of. I analyzed the situation with a recent version of KataGo, and KataGo finds AlphaGo's move immedia
