Jun 30, 2020 · LBN 777 is a portion of the large cloud of dust and gas known as the Taurus Molecular Cloud. The brownish color is caused by large dust grains embedded in the gas. The dust reflects the light of the stars inside and near the nebula.

Dec 26, 2021 · Here's LBN 777, aka, the Baby Eagle or Vulture Head Nebula. LBN 777 is a faint reflection nebula in Taurus about 5 degrees northeast of the Pleiades. It's part of the larger Taurus Molecular Cloud.

The LBN 777 nebula, known under nickname “Baby Eagle Nebula”, is naturally much dimmer as it reflects only scattered light of remote stars belonging to our Galaxy.

Dec 3, 2024 · Nestled within the Taurus Molecular Cloud, LBN 777, also affectionately called the Baby Eagle Nebula, is a stunning interplay of reflection and dark nebulae located approximately 450 light-years away.

Its location of RA 4.076 and DEC +26.33 puts the nebula at the bottom of the Baby Eagle's "eye." Barnhard described the nebula as a small elongated black spot. The "eye" seems to match this description.
