The LAV-25 (Light Armored Vehicle) is a member of the LAV II family. [4] It is an eight-wheeled amphibious armored reconnaissance vehicle built by General Dynamics Land Systems and used by the United States Marine Corps and the United States Army.

The LAV-M is the Mortar Carrier in the United States Marine Corps family of Light Armored Vehicles (LAV). The LAV-M was one of the initial six (6) variants procured by the USMC. The vehicle carries (90) 81mm mortar rounds inside the hull.

The Light Armored Vehicle-Assault Gun (LAV-AG) is developed for export (not in the USMC inventory). It was designed to carry a larger turret with a 90 mm cannon, providing direct fire with kinetic energy and chemical energy rounds.

LAV-M (mortar): The LAV-M carries the M252 81mm mortar with 360° traverse and the M240E1 machine gun with longitudinally sliding chassis, with a capacity of 99 mortar rounds and 1,000 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.

The LAV-M is armed with the 81mm M252 mortar. The LAV-M is fitted with a pintle mounted 7.62mm M240 machine gun for self-defense. The LAV-M is part of the LAV-25 family of vehicles.
