Sep 22, 2019 · Recently I purchased what was a Savage No4Mk1* 303 Enfield. However I now find that it had been re barrelled to the Nato 7.62 (308) and if what research I can find it would now be a L8A5 designation. These conversions where done in the 60's. Enfield did some and Stirling did some also.

Conversions of the No. 4 Mk 2 rifle were designated the L8A1 Rifle, while conversions of other Marks of the No. 4 rifle were designated L8A2 through L8A5.
