Kyle Gann, born 1955 in Dallas, Texas, is a composer of both microtonal and conventionally-tuned music, and the author of seven books on American music. His magnum opus is Hyperchromatica (2015-17), a three-and-a-half-hour cycle of pieces for three retuned, computer-driven pianos in a 33-tone scale (on the Other Minds label).
