Kunsan Air Base has more than 2,800 people here at Kunsan, including active duty, civilian, etc. Almost all military members live on base in dormitories. Those who live off base have received approval to live in the local community.
Kunsan Air Base is home to the 8th Fighter Wing which is known as the “Wolf Pack”, a nickname given during the command of Colonel Robin Olds back in 1966. It’s one of two major Air Force installations operated by the United States in Korea. Kunsan Air Base is located on the west coast of the South Korean peninsula bordered by the Yellow Sea.

The 8th Maintenance Group executed Kunsan's first integrated combat turn with a JASSM, loading the munition and refueling the aircraft while it was still running. An ICT is the act of rearming a jet while it is running to ensure quick turnover and return to operations; a key capability for rapidly projecting airpower.
