Dec 4, 2018 · We ended up with Kunekune X Mangalitsa crosses this year. We got 2 very healthy gilt pigs at 8 weeks old in April and had them butchered on the November 1st. Live weight was around 300lbs for each and a hanging weights were 197lbs and 199lbs.

A unique feature of the kunekune are the pire pire (tassels) hanging from their lower jaw (about 4 cm long). But not all purebreds have tassels.

Jan 1, 2023 · Just over the last several days I've noticed one of our 8 month old KuneKune gilts is having a harder time getting up each day. Her rear feet seem to be the problem, I'm almost postive it may have something to do with a little foot rot, or "bush foot"...though there doesn't seem to be a lot of evidence other than her sole seems a bit swollen ...

Nov 20, 2021 · We raise KuneKune and American Guinea in the forest. Over time they have gotten mixed because, well, they are pigs, horny as can be and escape artists. We love the combination too. It was an accidental thing but was fortunate in our case and use KuneKune and coyotes: A single coyote will have a problem with a single mature KK pig.
