It has been practiced under many names i.e. town planning, city planning, community planning, land use planning and physical environment planning.

Urban and Rural Planning is an interdisciplinary field of study which aims at producing skilled practitioners imbued with the most up-to-date planning techniques. It offers four years Bachelor Degree, two years Master Degree, and PhD in Planning.
