Oct 10, 2008 · The Ki-84 had similar low alt speed compared to the P-51D F4U-4, but it was far more maneuverable in all aspects of flight compared to the P-51. The F4U-4 Ki-84 were close in roll rate, while the Ki-84 clearly turned better. The climb rate was similar at low alt, but at mid to high alt the F4U-4 takes the lead.

Actual tested maximum speed with 91 octane fuel was various like 614km/h (alt. 5,000 meters), 640km/h (6,000 meters), 631km/h (6,120 meters) and 660km/h (6,000 meters) as it depended on the testing condition as well as the pilot's skill.

Nov 27, 2022 · Ki-84 engine running at 3000rpm with a propeller ratio of 0.5 makes so that the diameter of the Ki84 propeller is crucial. Meanwhile F8F runs at 2800rpm with a 0.45 reduciton ratio. In Ki-84 this is probably well thought and the propeller diameter is the exact needed for the max speeds of the aircraft.
