KG-40 was a half-duplex cryptographic device that provided data protection for the US Navy 's Link 11 system and other systems that met the Tactical Data Information Link A (TADIL-A) data standards. It was developed in the US in the mid-1970s and was used by the US Department of Defence (DoD) and by NATO.
