Maybe there's a misunderstanding when it comes to John Cho getting hate. I think most of us don't ever hated him because of being the one to play Spike. It's easy to not feel Cho as an obvious Spike choice and even the most resentful of us felt like rather "hating" the reasoning and people behind his casting. Why Cho doesn't suit Spike:

Bascially, John Cho and Bobby Lee were on a set together. One day, John was in Bobby's trailer, and a medic showed up and greeted Bobby in a really exaggerated Asian accent. He didn't know John was in Bobby's trailer. John snapped at him and told him to never do that again, or he's fired.

Apr 4, 2019 · Honestly, they don't even need TANK! specifically. Just get The Seatbelts to compose the soundtrack again. The series can be distinct and it's own thing it doesn't need to be a 1:1 remake of the anime but that soundtrack and sound is 100% necessary and integral to Cowboy Bebop.

It wasn't perfect, but as an Asian American, seeing John Cho play one of the leads in a mainstream romantic comedy meant so much to my young adult self---even if at the time I wasn't able to quite articulate to my friends why I liked this (seemingly) mediocre run-of-the-mill romcom (with a cringe-worthy name).
