Jinju is located in South Gyeongsang Province. While the Republic of Korea Air Force Education and Training Command is located in the eastern part of the city, there are also numerous cultural-historical tourist attractions that attract travelers year round, such as Jinjuseong Fortress, the Jinju National Museum, and the Gyeongsangnam-do Arboretum.

Jinju became the home of human rights while experiencing Jinju fortress battle (1592-3), Jinju farmer protestant (1892), and Hyunpyung company movement (1923).
