The Jinju Formation (Korean: 진주층; Hanja: 晋州層; RR: Jinju-cheung), also known as the Dongmyeong Formation (Korean: 동명층; Hanja: 東明層; RR: Dongmyeong-cheung) in some literature is an Early Cretaceous geologic formation in South Korea. [2]
Cretaceous beetles of the Jinju Formation (Coleoptera): An …
Jun 1, 2024 · The Jinju Formation is one of several sedimentary formations in the Gyeongsang Basin of South Korea (Kang and Paik, 2013). Its age has been estimated to be of Albian (Lee et al., 2010, Lee et al., 2018, Chae et al., 2020). The lithology is mostly formed of dark gray to black shale, with some localities of sandstone (Park et al., 2013).
A review of the paleoenvironments and ecosystem of Early
The paleoenvironments and ecosystem of the Early Cretaceous (Albian) Jinju Formation (about 1,000-1,800 m thick) are reviewed focusing on the lithofacies, fossil occurrences, and diverse records of sedimentary features.
Tectonic evolution of the Cretaceous Gyeongsang Back-arc Basin…
Jul 1, 2020 · We investigated the formation and evolution of the Gyeongsang Basin (SE Korea) and its tectonic implications by examining and interpreting structural features within the back-arc region (the Jinju, Daegu, and Uiseong structural domains).
Fluvial plain/lacustrine facies transition in the Cretaceous …
Jul 1, 1986 · During the Hasandong/Jinju period, small channels, which originated in the uplifted areas beyond the fault(s)-bounded western margin of the Gyeongsang Basin, flowed through alluvial fans developed along the fault(s) and a fluvial plain to a lake which occupied the central part of the basin.

May 23, 2016 · This paper focuses on the occurrence and formation mechanism of normal faults and calcite veins within the shale-dominant strata of the upper Jinju Formation, Cretaceous Gyeongsang Basin. Normal faults observed in two cut slopes (Jinju Service Station and Chukdong-myeon sites) offset shale strata, but do not cut the upper and lower sandstones.
In this study, we collected Jinju sandstone samples containing syndepositional volcanogenic zircons at the Natural Monument No. 534 site, and LA-MC-ICP-MS U-Pb dating was carried out to investigate the reliable depositional age and track formational age of …

Oct 31, 2019 · The Jinju Formation is a 1000-1800 m thick lacustrine deposit consisting mainly of dark gray shale with meters-to tens-of-meters-thick sandstones intercalated with the shale (Chough and...
Together with Korearachne jinju, the new spider species in this study will fill in the post-Aptian spider fossil record in East Asia, which has been largely unknown, due to the lack of post-Aptian fossiliferous strata in China.
A preliminary study of calcite beef found in the Cretaceous Jinju ...
Dec 31, 2015 · A total of seven species belonging to six genera of cypridoidean ostracods were recovered from three sections (Jeongchon, Hotan, and Tapri) of the Albian Jinju Formation from the Gyeongsang...
