Nov 13, 2015 · Playing a LG Paladin in the Forgotten Realms, I chose (basically at random) Ilmater as my deity and didn't think much else of it. Fast-forward a few sessions when we were joined by a LG cleric, who decided to also choose Ilmater as a god. He roleplays as super passive-aggressive, asking almost every NPC if they "know god."

Aug 15, 2023 · There's always a difference between the religion and the individual worshippers, Illmater is the patron of the suffering, oppressed, and persecuted, if anything he'd be more on the side of the races that have it hard, he is a willing sufferer, he bears the pain of others to spare them from it, and if he had his way he would do so for all the suffering in the world.

And you're going to try to live life as if the world was the best possible world that it can be, so that, by your example, maybe the world will move just a little bit close to what it should be.

Dec 16, 2023 · Hi all, first time posting in this sub. I noticed that the FR wiki had Ilmater's domains listed as Life and Twilight. Life definitely makes sense to me, but the night-time/darkness themes of Twilight seem irrelevant to Ilmater's shtick. Can anyone go into some lore details as to why a Cleric of Ilmater might go the Twilight route rather than Life?

Jul 26, 2023 · Ilmater is the god of suffering—and is a god who willingly sacrificed himself to suffering to take away the pain of others. Build on that. Your character used to derive meaning from ending folks’ suffering (presumably based on the god you picked).
