Is IK Pegasi (HR 8210) dangerous to us at all? - Physics Forums
Jun 26, 2008 · IK Pegasi (HR 8210) is a binary star system that is ~150 light years from us that is expected to blow up as a 1a supernova in a few million years. I've heard that the minimum safe distance from supernovae is ~30 light years away.

Dec 18, 2016 · IK Pegasi B is considered the white dwarf most likely to supernova in our galactic neighborhood, although some professors (eg: Neil F. Cumins of Maine) thinks it might nova instead. (I agree with Professor Cumins) Questions: At about 150 light years distant would this faint star become...
Researching AN Ursae Majoris B for Supernova Possibilities
Dec 18, 2016 · I have read that IK Pegasi B is the white dwarf most likely to supernova in our galactic neighborhood. Are any other white dwarfs under consideration? My vote goes to AN Ursae Majoris B. (a polar white dwarf about 124 light years away, I think) Has this star ever been considered by anyone...

What force is created before supernova explosion? - Physics Forums
Jun 7, 2015 · It is hundreds of light years away (about 650 ly ) It would light up the sky and be visible during the day but it would not adversely affect life on earth. The consensus amongst Scientists is the closest candidate for a type 1a supernova is IK Pegasi which is about 150 light years from earth. [a core collapse event is uneven as it explodes.
