API has also developed a starburst certification mark to select engine oils that meet the gasoline performance standards established by the International Lubricant Standardization and Approval Committee (ILSAC). This logo is displayed on the front of licensed motor oil product packages.

The new merits will be used in place of the current AP SN, AP SN+, and ILSAC’s GF-5 standards.
